Next meeting will take us to Kenya through the images of Pete Shaw, Chair, while member Bob Bray will show us around Oradour-Sur-Glane, a deserted village in France.
At our last meeting, we democratically chose our favourite images from the 10 challenges members took on during the last year to put forward for the forthcoming Tri-Battle Competition. An interesting range of talent was on show and a strong collection from a wide range of members was the outcome.
After Pete amazed us with the multitude of add-ons now available for I-Phones, we looked at the Creative and Nature sections from the 2014 RPS International Images for Screen Exhibition. The Creative section received mixed reactions though the photographers' imaginations were admired; the Nature section was easier to critique though some of our strongest nature photographers could easily match some of the competition submissions.
Members, David Sage and Bob Bray have recently completed a photographic project about Lacock, Wiltshire, in conjunction with the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre, Chippenham, Wiltshire. The task was to photograph the village and its villagers to compare with images taken by photographer Harold White in 1945. The result of this work is a new book (for sale in a number of outlets in Lacock, the Wiltshire and Swindon History Centre and Chippenham Museum) plus a series of exhibitions (see poster above). A worthwhile project seen through from beginning to end!

Members will be voting for which of our images to submit for the Tribattle challenge, scheduled for April 21. If time, we will be looking at images from the RPS International Images for Screen Exhibition 2014.
We enjoyed looking at fine landscapes by Allen Lloyd at our last meeting. He shared his thoughts about how and when to take landscapes by showing images of the Brecon Beacons and the Severn & Wye Valleys. He also showed shots from a trip to the winter wonderland of Yellowstone National Park, USA, while reminding us that temperatures can be as low as -48 dec C..... He finished by showing amusing shots of a variety of penguins from a trip to the Falklands. He encouraged us to look for sites on our doorstep that we can easily get to for dawn and sunset shot potential.
